Home Case Studies Falco Adds Hull Paragon Station to its Cycle Hub Portfolio
Hull Paragon Interchange station is the latest cycle hub; designed, manufactured and installed by Falco. It provides the First TransPennine Express (FTPE) station with a fully equipped facility to give cycle-rail users with everything they might need as part of their daily commute.
With smart card access and a fully manned daytime service, the Cycle Hub is a secure facility providing peace of mind to cyclists - with cycle parking for up to 160 bikes utilising the latest FalcoLevel Premium two tier racks.
The full list of features and facilities included at the new cycle hub are as follows:
- 160 Cycle Parking spaces
- Six electric cycle charging points.
- A fully fitted out cycle repair shop.
- A FalcoFix cycle repair and maintenance station.
- Ten hire bikes.
- Two electric hire bikes (and even more to come).
- Smart card secure access.
- New low energy LED lighting throughout.
- CCTV Security.
- Helmet locker cages.
- Re-branding of the hub.
Initially Falco took the architect’s drawings, imported them onto its own system and produced an initial layout for the client to appraise. Following site visits, further revisions took place and a design for the hub was developed.
Falco took some existing workshops, removed the partitions and created two work spaces for a reception and a workshop area. The workshop was fully fitted out to enable the engineers to undertake repairs and the servicing of bikes.
Additionally six electric bike charging points were fitted to meet the burgeoning trend for electric bikes - along with electric hire bikes to provide commuters to the city with an option to tackle the North Sea winds!
A FalcoFix repair station along with some helmet lockers provide users with great additional cycling facilities and provide them with a cycle repair station for their own use.
Hull Paragon station dates back to the 18th century and is now classed as a grade II listed building, in order to protect the original NER mosaic flooring, Falco placed rubber matting underneath all two-tier cycle racks to prevent any damage to the historic surface.
The cycle hub, managed by Travel Extra, is located inside the old NER ticket office area and provides cyclists with a complete range of facilities. The team there commented: “Falco’s team have been very professional in all aspects of the Hull Cycle Hub complete fit out from start to finish. Workmanship has been first class and would recommend without haste.” To register with the Hull cycle hub get in touch at http://hullcyclehub.co.uk/.
