Two extraordinary Falco colleagues embarked on a remarkable journey on Saturday 20th July, conquering the challenging Macmillan Peak District Mighty Hike and raising over £900 in the process.
Braving the summer heat, Managing Director, Rob Harper and Sales Co-ordinator, Ben Duffield, fearlessly embraced the challenge ahead – a gruelling 26.7 mile hike through the Peak District National Park – most famous for its rocky escarpments and ridges to mini mountains and rolling moorland.
Starting and finishing at Bakewell Showground, the full marathon is a circular route encompassing the many beautiful and dramatic scenes the National Park has to offer. Rob and Ben hiked the picturesque trails from Darley Moor to Bakewell, scrambled the Pennines and scaled the hills and dales, past the majestic Dovedale stepping stones. With its rolling terrain, this challenging route demanded resilience as they ascended a staggering total elevation of 2,329ft.
Their unwavering commitment persisted for an impressive 8 hours and 30 minutes, during which they rallied generous support, raising substantial funds for the invaluable cause of Macmillan Cancer Support. The entire Falco UK workforce bursts with pride, celebrating their incredible achievement!
Commenting on the incredible achievement, Rob added “This event was the 2nd year where we embarked on the Challenge to raise money for this cause. The weather was great, if not a little too hot, but with plenty of water to keep us hydrated, all was fine. Hats off to my Colleague Ben, who despite all the challenges put up a great time for the day. There was sore feet at the end of the challenge, even walking back to the car in bear feet. Falco UK are a great team and my thanks go to the whole team for the massive support for the event.
Macmillan Cancer Support runs many events throughout the year to encourage interaction, support, fundraising and to raise awareness of its work. Macmillan’s work is a lifeline to many families throughout the UK.
