Falco cycle parking employees have raised £465 for the Trussell Trust’s Leek & District Foodbank - to help meet the local charity’s unprecedented demand this winter.
The fundraising day at Falco’s Head Office in Leekbrook was filled with coffee and cake. Finance Manager, Netty Barlow, organised a raffle with fun prizes up for grabs, including locally produced Titanic ales, a bluetooth wireless speaker, family games, home essentials and jewellery.
A cheque was presented to the food bank on Friday 10th November. Pictured here are Sue, Pam and Coral from the Leek & District Foodbank and Bryan and Gary from Falco UK.
Commenting on the recent donation, Lindsey Stockton - Project Manager at the Leek and District Foodbank, said "We would like to say a huge thank you to Falco for their amazing cash donation of £465 towards the vital work of Leek and District Foodbank. Although we continue to receive very generous food donations from the wonderful people of Leek, sadly, these are no longer sufficient to keep up with the huge increase in demand for our services. We are having to purchase approximately 25% of our stock, and this is why donations such as this are so vital to our cause. We feel truly blessed to have such great support from local businesses such as Falco, thank you so much”.
Raffle Organiser, Netty Barlow, commented “The Trussell Trust is a very important charity to me. I know people who have used it, and would not have managed without it. It’s the little things that can make such a huge difference, not just to the physical wellbeing of the people who use it, but to their mental wellbeing also”.
Rob Harper, Falco UK Managing Director, commented “as a local Business and Employer, we have a strong commitment to the fabulous people of Leek. My support to the Leek and District Foodbank comes from a personal view that no one should go hungry in 2023. I pay great tribute to the Team at Falco for their efforts and generosity for raising such an amount”.
The Leek & District Food Bank is part of The Trussell Trust - a nationwide network of food banks providing emergency food and support to people locked in poverty. Between 1st April and 30th September 2023, the Trussell Trust’s Foodbanks distributed 1.5 million food parcels to people facing hardship – that’s more demand than the charity has ever faced! The charity continuously campaigns for a change to end the need for food banks in the UK.
